Bloomington-based Storage Express celebrated the opening of its newest selfstorage facility in Petersburg this week with a ribbon-cutting on site and a pizza party at a “Joe Mama’s” restaurant. Petersburg mayor Jon Craig and representatives of the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and City Council participated in the event.
During the grand opening festivities, company president Jefferson Shreve announced the launch of Adopt a Friend, a Storage Express-sponsored community outreach program aimed at supporting the work of animal shelters located in the towns where the company operates. Shreve presented Tom Dooley, board member of “Paws” of Pike County, a check for $250 and the donation of a storage space at its new Petersburg location. Similar donations will be made by the company in other South Central Indiana markets.
“The people in our communities, who care for lost and abandoned domestic animals, perform a vital community service,” Shreve commented. “These shelters need our support; I’m pleased to direct some of our dollars to such worthwhile work. And I’m going to be encouraging community members and leaders in each of our markets to join us in this effort, by making $10 donations to community programs like PAWS in Pike County.”
Storage Express will provide participating donors in Pike and Gibson County with a month of complimentary storage at its Petersburg or Washington properties.
